Culinary Arts
COURSE OVERVIEW
These classes are designed to introduce students to and prepare them for the world of the Culinary Arts. Students will learn classical techniques and recipes as well as the practical application of health and safety regulations in the professional kitchen.
The courses are a combination of demonstration and hands-on learning. The lessons are cumulative and reinforce good technique, aesthetics, and development of the palette.
ABOUT THE COURSES
CULINARY ARTS I: CHEF ASSISTANT - INTERNATIONAL FOODS
This course offers training in classical and international culinary arts, focusing on skills necessary to become a chef assistant.
CULINARY ARTS II: ASSISTANT PASTRY CHEF
A specialized course focusing on pastry and baking skills, ideal for those aspiring to become assistant pastry chefs.
CULINARY ARTS III: SERVSAFE® MANAGEMENT
Advanced culinary training emphasizing food safety and management, in line with the SERVSAFE® certification standards.
ABOUT CHEF TIMOTHY MALOOF
Chef Maloof started working in the restaurant industry in 1985; he started at the bottom and worked his way up training under many mentors and chefs, working under many European chefs until becoming head chef of several restaurants–most notably, and recently, the Michelin recognized Elf restaurant in Los Angeles, California.
Chef Maloof was the opening chef of Elf, and the reopening chef after closure due to Covid.
Chef Maloof brings his many years of experience to his students with great enthusiasm; exposing them to the practical world of kitchens.
His background in cooking started with his love for Lebanese food, learning his family's culinary traditions and tastes, this blossomed into a rich and diverse career in Culinary Arts.
