COURSE OVERVIEW

This hands-on course introduces adult learners to both the culinary and business fundamentals needed for success in the food and hospitality industries. Students will learn basic cooking techniques while preparing a different dish each day. Alongside cooking instruction, learners will explore introductory concepts in entrepreneurship, restaurant operations, and food-based business planning. The course is co-taught by a former restaurant manager with experience preparing vegan Mediterranean cuisine and by an award-winning baker, offering students expert guidance from seasoned culinary professionals.


ABOUT ISABELLA CISNEROS

Chef Isabella brings a strong background in restaurant management, hands-on culinary experience, and a fresh focus on entrepreneurship. As the former restaurant manager at the local Vegiterranean Kitchen, she trained staff to maintain high standards of service and product quality, and implemented efficient inventory control systems to optimize costs. Having learned to prepare every item on the menu, she offers valuable real-world insight into both kitchen operations and business management.

ABOUT KARINA PINEDA

Chef Karina is a graduate of the Moorpark Adult School Culinary Arts Program. She is also a bilingual food service professional with extensive experience in school nutrition, catering, and culinary operations. A California Certified Food Manager, she brings strong expertise in food safety, menu planning, and kitchen management, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality meals in educational and senior programs while maintaining strict compliance with health regulations. She is also an award-winning baker and first-place pie contest winner.
